Vantage Point

I have been hearing and reading great reviews about this movie from critics and friends.  I have got to take some time off to watch it or agonizingly wait for it to come out on DVD!

vantage point

In Columbia Pictures’ “Vantage Point,” Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide. In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) an American tourist video taping the historic event to show his kids when he returns home. Also there is Rex (Sigourney Weaver) an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. It’s only as we follow each person’s perspective of the same 15 minutes prior to and immediately after the shooting that the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt is revealed.

The Robber Bride

It was my first time to see this movie ever, and I got to see it on HBO tonight. It was quite interesting… actually it got me hooked by it’s beginning that’s why I finished it. It was a good movie starring Mary Louise Parker (Zenia).

The story started with a “staged murder” which imprisoned a cop (he dated Zenia and was the last person to be seen with her). The cop (I don’t know the actor’s name and I forgot the name of the cop in the movie also) asked for his friend John (who happens to be an ex-cop but is now an insurance investigator) to help him prove his innocence. This launched the friend into a series of discoveries about the “alleged” death of Zenia. John got to meet Zenia’s “friends” who all seemed happy that she is dead because they all claimed that she did something bad to them. And just when John was already suspecting that one of the women who became victims of Zenia’s wrongdoing was the real murderer, he sees that Zenia is actually alive and is about to leave town… Anyways, I am not going to give up the ending and spoil it for anyone who would get to read this… it’s better if you watch the movie.

the robber bride

I found out that it was based on a novel of the same title by Margaret Atwood… I have got to get me a copy of that!

CSI

Grissom is back… and he’s out to find Sarah.  As most CSI followers out there know, last season’s finale left a cliffhanger… “where is Sarah?”  She was kidnapped by the psychotic miniature killer and was left in the middle of the dessert trapped under a car.  They caught the culprit but the problem is, she has sunk into a deeper psychosis which makes it impossible for them to shake the information they want out of her.  So it is up the CSI team to look for clues and be able to save their friend… are they going to find her in time?  I can’t wait to find out tonight at AXN Asia!  Watch it, Season 8 starts tonight at 10pm!

Chicken Casserole

This is what we had for dinner… I didn’t go to the market or the grocery store last weekend so I had to make do with ingredients that were available at home to make dinner for me and hubby. (Mental Note: Go to the grocery tomorrow after church, to buy fresh supplies!!!)

Chicken Casserole finished product

I don’t know what this dish is called since, like I said, I had to make do with what was left in our refrigerator and pantry. Maybe there is a already a dish like this called something else but for now, I’m calling it Chicken Casserole. Oh, and although I am stating the amount I used when I cooked, I guess everyone is free to alter everything according to their taste…

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 Kilo Chicken Wings
2 Bell Peppers, cut into strips
1 small pack tomato sauce
1 large onion
1 clove garlic
2 small potatoes, quartered
1 tablespoon fish sauce (patis)
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 cup water
salt and pepper, to taste

PROCEDURE:
In a pan, saute garlic and onions in canola oil then add the chicken wings, salt, pepper and fish sauce then stir fry until the wings are half cooked. Add the bell peppers and 1 cup of water and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the potatoes and let it simmer again until the potatoes get half cooked.
Chicken Casserole step 01
Then add the tomato sauce and simmer to completely cooke the potatoes and to reduce the sauce into a thick consistency.
Chicken Casserole step 02
There, it’s simple so you can make it in about 15 to 20 minutes. Very ideal for working housewives like me! Plus it can serve 2 to 4 people depending on how many helpings they get, hehehe! But since there was only me and hubby, there was enough leftover for hubby to bring to work tomorrow for his lunch.

    One More Chance

ok, so this movie was shown several months or maybe even a year ago, but what can I do… I barely watch movies nowadays and when I do, I often go with my husband and he doesn’t like love stories or dramas, he prefers suspense, horror or action.  So anyways, my friend Jaybee bought the DVD of One More Chance as a gift for his wife on Valentine’s Day but before he sent it to her (his wife, Johanna lives in the U.S.) he let us watch it first (so he knows if it’s good to go)  and it was quite good.  The story was very “real”.  I mean people can definitely relate to it.  It shows that most relationships, no matter how seemingly perfect, doesn’t always work out even with the best intentions but with patience and time to heal… “if it’s meant to be, then it’s meant to be”  John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo look good together in the movie, I think they have grown a lot since their telenovela days and has molded themselves to be quite good actors.  If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I am talking about… If you haven’t yet, do so… it really is a nice movie.

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

I loved the movie National Treasure and may have watched it over 20 times already on DVD… That’s why I am so excited to watch National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. The original cast got together to do this so I guess they enjoyed doing the first as much as I enjoyed watching it. The trailer hinted something about some “hidden truth” instead of treasure, though so I’m guessing the movie will be a series of hunt for clues and stuff like the first one… I can’t wait, I really am psyched to watch this already!

    Last Minute Christmas Shopping

my sisters and I went on a last minute christmas shopping for my godchildren I have no gifts for yet.  Our shopping spree went on from lunchtime until early evening!
