Enchanted

Enchanted Poster

A friend of mine tried to dissuade me from watching this movie as she said, and I quote “It is very predictable”. Well, I’ve never been one who heeds these kind of warnings, I prefer to judge a movie (or anything and anyone for that matter) by MY OWN standards so I went and watched the movie despite the said comments…

Actually, the movie has a younger generation in mind for it’s audience but what can I say, I’m a sucker for romantic comedies, and this includes “Disney magic” in it so…

First, if you’re cynical and have no sense of humor then please save yourself the agony of watching this movie, BUT, if you are “enchanted” with movies that combines contemporary awareness with good old fashioned fairy tales then this is the movie for you! I enjoyed it’s witty humor and modern fairy tale ending. I actually went out of the theater feeling young and “in-love”, hehehe!

The Face Shop

My sister and I went to the mall today to do a bit of grocery shopping and I guess I got more than just groceries because I ended up buying a white eye pencil (which my sister Hazelle arbored right away), a couple of nail polish (which I’m sure I am going to wear once — for a couple of days — and end up in storage), nail polish remover (it smelled like cologne!) and eye shadow applicators and brushes.

MOA Loot

I went to Mall of Asia today with my sister and mother…

I of course couldn’t help myself but buy these:

ipanema slip ons and elianto loot

(those are a pair of pink slippers from ipanema and from elianto I bought a set of 4 eyeshadows [my own pick of colors] and a mascara)

And then we had late lunch at Sbarro’s where I tried this deep dish cheese pizza

Stuffed Bell Pepper with Meat Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 8 Bell peppers, lg. for stuffing
  • 3 tbsp. bacon grease
  • ½ K ham cubes, chopped in food processor
  • 1 c. Bell pepper, chopped
  • 5 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 bunches green onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed then minced
  • 1 kilo ground beef
  • 4 pcs. of loaf bread, soaked then torn in sm. pieces
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 3 cans water
  • Angel hair pasta
  • Parmesan cheese

Pocedure:
Cut tops of Bell peppers off, clean out inside and wash. In very large pot filled with water, boil the Bell peppers for 20 minutes or until just tender- crisp. Do not over cook or the peppers will split up the sides. Drain peppers and set aside. In large deep saucepan, heat bacon grease. Add ham and cook for 5 minutes. Remove 2 tablespoons of Bell pepper, onion, celery, green pepper, onion, celery, green onions and garlic to ham and saute over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until vegetables are soft and tender. Add meat, thyme, allspice, pepper and salt and cook, stirring occasionally until meat is brown and breaks apart, approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Squeeze all water out of bread and tear into tiny pieces. Add this to mixture and stir well. Cook 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove some the of meat mixture and set aside for gravy. Using remaining mixture, stuff Bell peppers and place in a deep baking dish.
Heat olive oil in deep saucepan and add Bell pepper, onion, celery, green onions and garlic which has been set aside. Saute until tender over medium heat. Add 4 cups meat mixture and stir well. Add tomato sauce and water. Cover, reduce heat to low-medium and cook for 30 minutes or until gravy becomes slightly thick. This gravy should not be as thick as regular red gravy. Pour gravy into baking dish with peppers. Make sure that you pour some of the gravy on top of each pepper. Cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 to 60 minutes or until Bell peppers are tender. To serve, place cooked angel hair pasta on plate. Spoon meat gravy onto pasta, place one pepper on individual plate with pasta and pass the Parmesan cheese.

Goodbye Gilmore Girls

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) — With two weeks to go until its upfront presentation, The CW confirmed today its veteran series “Gilmore Girls” will not be returning for an eighth season.”Announcing the final season of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters,” the network said in a joint statement with the studio.”We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and ‘Gilmore’ fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the send off it deserves.”

The news follows a busy week of rumors and speculation about the show’s future, which included everything from a shortened 13-episode renewal to contract negotiation breakdowns with co-stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.

The final episode of “Gilmore Girls” will air Tuesday, May 15 at 8:00/7:00c. The netlet then will detail its 2007-08 season plans two days later on May 17.

For years now, my sisters and I have been following the mother-daughter tandem of Lorelie & Rory Gilmore.  Unfortunately, the series has come to an end… after all, Rory and finished high school and college… That’s 7 beautiful, captivating seasons of the love-hate relationship of a mother and daughter.  The witty writing of Amy Sherman Palladino has truly captured the hearts of her audience, young and old.  I will miss tv nights with my sisters, specially our youngest, Mae, when we watch and react to everything that happens in the show.  Even now that I don’t live with them anymore, we still call one another whenever the show comes on… just like old times… we’ll just have to find another show to link us!

Spiderman 3

I must say I’m a bit dissappointed with the third (and final?) installment of the Spiderman movies series. I guess I was expecting so much more after enjoying the first and second movie. I’m not saying it sucked, I just expected more…

Needless to say, the effects were great and what you would want in a summer fun flick is there — action, comedy, a bit of drama and of course, romance. I hope I didn’t spoil the excitement of others who have not yet watched it… like I said, it wasn’t bad at all… just… I don’t know, it felt like something was missing…
