Street Kings

Here’s a new movie to look forward to… It’s been a while since I’ve seen an action flick with Keanu Reeves in it so that’s the lure of this movie for me. Meanwhile hubby likes action-filled movies so it’s a must see for him. We saw the trailer while waiting for the next movie in HBO (Or was it Star Movies?) this weekend. It is about an LAPD vice detective (Reeves) who makes a vow to do whatever it takes to find the killers of his former partner and in the process might have bended the law to get the job done. The movie also stars great actors like Forest Whitaker (from Vantage Point) and Hugh Laurie (of the famed TV series, HOUSE, M.D.). I wonder when this movie is going to be shown here in the Philippines?

Vantage Point

I have been hearing and reading great reviews about this movie from critics and friends.  I have got to take some time off to watch it or agonizingly wait for it to come out on DVD!

vantage point

In Columbia Pictures’ “Vantage Point,” Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide. In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) an American tourist video taping the historic event to show his kids when he returns home. Also there is Rex (Sigourney Weaver) an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. It’s only as we follow each person’s perspective of the same 15 minutes prior to and immediately after the shooting that the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt is revealed.

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

I loved the movie National Treasure and may have watched it over 20 times already on DVD… That’s why I am so excited to watch National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. The original cast got together to do this so I guess they enjoyed doing the first as much as I enjoyed watching it. The trailer hinted something about some “hidden truth” instead of treasure, though so I’m guessing the movie will be a series of hunt for clues and stuff like the first one… I can’t wait, I really am psyched to watch this already!

Spiderman 3

I must say I’m a bit dissappointed with the third (and final?) installment of the Spiderman movies series. I guess I was expecting so much more after enjoying the first and second movie. I’m not saying it sucked, I just expected more…

Needless to say, the effects were great and what you would want in a summer fun flick is there — action, comedy, a bit of drama and of course, romance. I hope I didn’t spoil the excitement of others who have not yet watched it… like I said, it wasn’t bad at all… just… I don’t know, it felt like something was missing…
